Description |
"The Manuscript" is a short story about "an Israeli woman who saves her lover's manuscript from possibly being taken by the Nazis or being destroyed by the war. She is later faced with a very unpleasant situation concerning the end of both her lover and the manuscript" (Singer).
Isaac Bashevis Singer was born in 1904 in modern day Poland to parents of strong rabbinical heritage. He won The Nobel Prize in Literature in 1978 "for his impassioned narrative art which, with roots in a Polish-Jewish cultural tradition, brings universal human conditions to life" ("The Nobel Prize"). * * * “The Nobel Prize in Literature 1978.” NobelPrize.org.
