Description |
A book containing various nursery rhymes for young children. Of special note is the poem "The Star" on pp. 24-25, known today as "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." The poem was written by the British poet Jane Taylor and her sister Ann and published in the early 19th century. It was in an earlier edition of this book that the poem was first published, among other books ("Jane Taylor").
The book was published in Paternoster Row in London, England, a street famous for its powerful influence in publishing located north of St. Paul's cathedral. It was bombed during WWII and is now replaced by Paternoster Square where the London Stock Exchange is located. * * * “Jane Taylor.” Poetry Foundation.
