MrJ. C. Neibaur

Dear father just a

time to let you know

I am still all wright as

I hope these few lines

 will find you. I am

  enjoying myself and am

  well satisfied with this

kind of life. Altho it has

  its hard places the same

as any other life. It sure

would be fine if I could

  be around home all the

time I would like to see

you all again but there is

   no chance for a while

   I do not regrett having

inlisted for if I had not done

so when I did I might have

been drafted in for they have

quit recriuting now and they are

going to start drafting pretty soon

and if we learn as fast as we

should we will probably get a

     promotion to first class privates

at least they will treat us better

than they will the men they

        have to force in.

I guess I am the only patriot in

Sugar I sure did expect to see

at least one or two from there

and one or two from Teton but

there is none from either town

              besides myself.

I certainly was surprised to hear

that all and, Shock had, been

           arrested for stealing hogs altho

all.said to me that day that we

              worked for Holman that

would be a good chance to

get away with some hogs but

I did not think he meant to

               do it.

I have not had a chance to show

my musical ability yet but I

expect to right away. They need

a baritone player and I think

I will get the job. I do not care whether

I go in the band or not until I get

         mustered into the federal service

I am getting 45 a month now and

if I join the band I will only get

23 when we are mustered into the

federal service we will only get

fifteen so I think I will join the band

when we are mustered in which

I think will be in a few days.

After we are mustered in they

can take us out of the state we

may go to Portland and we

may go up to the Canadian

border I think we will

leave here in a day or two

I do not know where we

will go from here but I

hope it will not be far

Well I guess I will close

for this time as I cannot

think of anything more

to tell you. Are you going

to take uncle Wills beets

give my love to dear

grandma and all my

dear brothers and sisters

tell them I will write

to them soon. I have

written to Marie, Libbie

and Verna today and

my hand is very tired

my lift arm is very sore

from the vaccination

yet Well I guess this is

all for this time so I will

close. Answer soon
