Anna Johnson Poetry

Anna Johnson Single Poems

These poems, mostly religious-based, span from July 1970 to December 1970. Someone, maybe Johnson herself, left various notes in charcoal throughout the pages to note which poems she had lost or only had one copy of. During this time, Johnson was still living in Salt Lake City. She was 78 years old and going on 79. The Vietnam war had been going on for 15 years.

Yesterday has gone.

Yesterday has gone. Tomorrow isn't here. Today is all I have, To rise above my fear. I must do my best To make my life worthwhile. I must work and pray, And struggle, mile on mile. The Lord is trusting me To do my very best, To grow and rise in strength Above each earthly test.
