Mr. J. C. Neibaur

             Dear father

your most welcome

litter came to hand

  today also your very

    welcome dollar bill

     I sure needed it I

   did not even have

    a nickel to buy any

  stamps. I happened

to have some writing

material and I bumed

a stamp to send you

your letter so I was

sure glad to get it

Well it will soon

be my birthday and

also my dear mothers

tell her I send her my

 best wishes for many

 happy returns. Are

 the folks going to try

 and be together I sure

 wish I could be there

 with you especially

for our birthdays I

am awfully homesick

at times whenever

an officer gives me

a bawling out in

a rough way I think

of home and what

 father would say to

me for some little

mistake of the sort

   you know I have

never been used to

any rough treatment

at home and it is

very hard for me.

Well dad I am not

  sorry that I joined

when I did for I still

    believe it is a duty

     that I owe to my

     country. I am glad we

      they have made the

      age for drafting from

21 to 30 because now

their wont be comany

of my dear friends have

to go

Well dad I guess this

Is all I can think of to

  write so I will close

  hoping to hear from

you soon and thanking

you again for the money

I remain as ever

            your loving son

                Tom
